The World Record of Amritsari Kulcha: How Amritsar Haveli Made History with a 2.7 Feet Giant Amritsari Kulcha

Amritsari Kulcha, the iconic stuffed flatbread from the streets of Amritsar, is a beloved symbol of Punjabi cuisine. But on 25th December 2020, one restaurant took this classic dish to an entirely new level by creating the largest Amritsari Kulcha in the world — a massive 2.7 feet giant Amritsari Kulcha baked traditionally in a clay oven.

Amritsar Haveli successfully entered the World Book of Records (UK) with this extraordinary feat at the Mall of Amritsar. This achievement not only celebrated Punjab’s rich culinary heritage but also put Amritsar Haveli on the global food map.

From its crispy exterior loaded with butter to the soft, flavorful potato or mixed stuffing inside, the giant kulcha captured the imagination of food lovers across India and beyond.

The Historic Moment: 25th December 2020

On a winter day in 2020, the team at Amritsar Haveli decided to push the boundaries of traditional Punjabi cooking. At the Mall of Amritsar, media, chefs prepared and baked a 2.7 feet (approximately 32 inches) Amritsari Kulcha in a specially arranged traditional clay tandoor (oven).

This wasn’t just a bigger version of the regular kulcha. It required meticulous planning — perfecting the dough consistency, balancing the stuffing ratio, managing heat distribution in a giant tandoor, and ensuring the kulcha cooked evenly without burning or remaining raw in the center.

After hours of preparation and precise execution, the 2.7 feet giant Amritsari Kulcha was successfully baked and unveiled, earning official recognition in the World Book of Records for being the largest Amritsari Kulcha made in a traditional clay oven.

This record instantly went viral on social media, with food enthusiasts praising the dedication and skill of the Amritsar Haveli team.
